Our Story

The Allen Thomas Group was founded by Joe Race in 2003. Mr. Race graduated from The University of Akron and began his career in the 1990s as an investment advisor. He quickly realized that his clients needed just as much help protecting their assets as growing them and that the insurance market was failing them.

The captive insurance model agents tied to a single carrier could not deliver the objective guidance his clients deserved. Their options were limited to what one company offered, regardless of fit. So Mr. Race built an independent advisory practice from the ground up: multiple carrier relationships, unbiased analysis, and coverage built around the client rather than a product catalog.

More than two decades later, that model has not changed. We are still independent. We still compare. We still put the client’s situation first. What has changed is scale we are now licensed in 27 states and represent a carefully selected panel of 15+ A-rated carriers across personal and commercial lines.
